Our Mission Statement
As a Catholic school and community, we share a common vision where Christ is at the centre of all our work and play. Our school ethos embodies principles of love, service, respect and reconciliation. We endeavour to recognise the dignity of each member of our school community and to nurture, encourage and challenge our pupils to be lifelong learners.
Our school Mission Statement is lived out in all that we do, and our school prayer and school values, grew out of our Mission Statement
We have a strong link with St Anselm's Church. We attend Mass regularly, and the priests visit the children in school. The faith life of the school is not separate from the life of the school, the two aspects are indistinguishable.
Included within our mission, are the nine aspects of Catholic Social teaching.
Examples of how we live out our mission are:
We have active Pupil Chaplains, who lead some whole school worships, and are involved in supporting local, national and international projects. Examples of this are:
- Linking up with the local Polish club (White Eagle), and working with the school community, to provide Christmas boxes and backpacks for Ukrainian children
- Supporting the annual Advent and Lent CAFOD projects
- Attending the parish Christmas 'Soup and Sandwich' event, enabling the chaplains to support the elderly and those in need
We have an active Rights Respecting Advocacy group who are working on the UN Convention on The Rights of the child
- The Rights Respecting Advocates organised two Harvest Donations in 2024: food for a local food bank (The Dons), and donations to a local project to support families (Little Village)
Other projects in the school that contribute to our Catholic life and mission
- In 2023, Year 6 children spent the day at a local foodbank (The Dons) to learn about food poverty and to help make up food parcels
- Year 5 raised money for CAFOD through a sponsored times-tables test. They used the money to support CAFOD's World Gifts programme and chose what to buy
- The school takes part in the annual CAFOD Big Lent Walk
- The PTA, and Year 6, organise an annual Christmas party for the Parish Senior Citizens in the school hall
- Year 4 children attend an annual overnight retreat at Aylesford Priory
- Fr Louie visits one class every week, and helps to lead some assemblies
